The thinnest mattress I've ever seen, September 5, 2009 By Organic Mom (Florida) - See all my reviews PLEASE NOTE! This mattress is only 1 inch thick! I ordered it for our baby because it was organic and was not happy when I got it. Organic or not, it is way over-priced for what you actually get, which is an organic cotton covered, very thin pad. Unless you want your baby to be sleeping like a monk, I would not recommend it. We are returning ours.

It also doesn't have the chemical smell like the foam mattress alternative (which I also have) which really concerned me. It is only one inch thick, but if you compare it to any other bassinet mattress it is exactly what it should be - comfortable and safe. newborn babies are not supposed to sleep on a cushy surface, and this mattress is not overly firm. the stokke mini sheets also fit perfectly snug (there is a certain way you need to orient them to fit properly). Overall, I am very happy with my purchase, do not feel that the mattress is overpriced and would recommend this mattress highly over the stokke one.

Sure it's only and inch and a half thick, but it seems perfectly comfortable to me. I really wanted to get an organic mattress and this is a much more affordable option than the Natural Mat option. Plus it's covered with food-grade polyethylene, which I wasn't expecting but is actually really nice because you don't have to purchase a waterproof pad unless you want additional coverage. Very happy with the purchase.
